Yum Yum (turns out Christopher is translated to Yum Yum in Tonga also) I started a blog!!!
Happy Belated Birthday Mom!!!! (I've been trying to find a phone and know there is at least one at the PC office) What a day to start. We just got back from the Tongan navy base where we had class. We were in the ocean all morning learning water safety, got to jump off the big navy boat and had to make it to shore after a boat ride into the ocean (mom, I wish I had swum more lenghts between the rafts!) We had a lovely lunch in Nukualofa where all the palangis (white people) eat and then went to the maaketi where my friend Ata helped me barter for a skirt. I'm not very good because at all the stalls they told me everything was T30, but other people were definitely getting things for under T10. The other night Haatafu had a dance to raise money for a concert and guess who danced? I did, so look at the pictures of traditional Tongan dance on the internet and that's what we did(cocunut oil, tapa the works) Angie, I think you have a pretty clear picture of how it went down. Steve you might want to get the tape out of Elaine if you have any questions. Fakakata pe(just kidding, I use that one a lot) We actually made 80t for the fundraiser and I believe I heard someone say I looked like a graceful swan (fakakata pe big time). I'm going to try and write you today but we'll be in town Tuesday for a few, so I'll be able to then. I love and miss you all!!!!!
